Lyrics
AGAPE OF THE NIGHT
[VERSE 1]
Through silent halls of weathered stone
I walked the night alone
Beneath the dying lamps of men
Beyond the broken throne
The winds carried forgotten names
Across the ancient sky
And somewhere through the cold and dark
A voice was calling mine
Beyond the fear
Beyond the flame
There burned a light
Without a name
[CHORUS]
Agape…
Like dawn upon the sea
Calling every wounded soul
Into eternity
Agape…
Through shadow and through flame
Love remembers every heart
And calls us all by name
[VERSE 2]
The proud men raised their towers high
Of iron, dust and gold
Yet every crown beneath the stars
Will someday lose its hold
The walls we build around our hearts
Grow heavier with time
But mercy walks the ruined roads
Still searching for the blind
Beyond the shame
Beyond the scars
Love walks with us
Through ruined worlds
Agape…
Like fire within the rain
Calling every wandering child
Back to life again
Agape…
No darkness overcomes
For even in the deepest night
Your light is leading home
[VERSE 3
I searched for You in empty halls
In voices carved by fear
I wore the robes of righteousness
Yet still You were not there
Until the night I finally broke
With nothing left to hide
You met me in my weakness there
And walked here by my side

Emmanuel…
Emmanuel…
God beside the weak and torn
God within the storm
Emmanuel…
Emmanuel…
When every other fire fades
Still Your love remains
Ahhh…
Agape…
Ahhh…
Emmanuel…
Agape…
Still burning through the night
Guiding every shattered soul
Toward eternal light
Agape…
No sorrow stays the same
For the One who formed the stars
Still calls us each by name
Agape…
When kingdoms fall apart
Love will be the final song
Written on the heart

The story behind the song
The Story Behind Agape of the Night
Agape of the Night is the lead song for the novel Who Is Like God and serves as its musical heartbeat. More than simply accompanying the story, it introduces the novel’s central themes long before the first chapter begins. Every verse echoes the journey of the characters, while every chorus points toward the One who stands at the center of the story—God’s eternal Agape.
Every story has a heartbeat.
For Who Is Like God, that heartbeat is Agape of the Night.
The song was born from one central question that echoes throughout the novel: Who is God, really? Is He distant and demanding, or is He the One who quietly walks beside the broken, calling every soul by name?
The opening verses follow the lonely journey of every seeker. Ancient halls, fading lamps, broken thrones and silent nights symbolize humanity’s search for truth through power, religion and human achievement. They represent every place where people have tried to find God, yet discovered only shadows.
Against that darkness shines a single word:
Agape.
Not merely love as a feeling, but God’s own self-giving, life-transforming love. Throughout the novel, Agape is the invisible thread guiding Mira, Azarel and every soul who is willing to leave fear behind. It is stronger than pride, deeper than religion and brighter than every human light.
The third verse gives voice to Azarel, one of the central characters in the story. His journey reflects the struggle of many sincere believers who seek God through duty, tradition and outward righteousness, only to discover that God is found most clearly in humility and surrender. It is only when he finally lays down his own strength that Emmanuel walks beside him.
The repeated name Emmanuel — God with us forms the turning point of the song. The God of Who Is Like God is not distant. He enters the darkness, walks with the wounded and restores what fear has broken.
As the music grows into its cinematic finale, the song widens from one person’s journey to the story of all humanity. Kingdoms rise and fall. Human glory fades. Every earthly throne passes away. Yet one thing remains forever:
Agape.
The final whispered lines leave the listener with the same invitation that runs through the entire novel. Beyond every wall we build, beyond every fear, beyond every failure, there is a Love that never forgets a single name. That Love still calls. That Love still leads us home.
Biblical reflection
Biblical Reflection — Agape of the Night
”The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
— John 1:5
The world often teaches us to seek security in power, success, knowledge or our own righteousness. We build walls around our hearts, hoping they will protect us. Yet those same walls can keep us from the very One who longs to meet us.
Throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself in a different way. He does not begin with power, but with love. He does not force His way into our lives; He calls us by name.
This is the heartbeat of Agape of the Night.
The song reminds us that God’s Agape reaches beyond our fear, beyond our shame and beyond every failure. Like the shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine sheep to seek the one that is lost (Luke 15:4–7), God continues searching for every wandering soul. His love is patient, faithful and never gives up.
The name Emmanuel means ”God with us.” In Jesus Christ we see that God did not remain distant from human suffering. He entered our darkness, walked among the broken and carried our sins to the cross so that we might receive new life (1 Peter 2:24).
The final hope of the song is not found in human kingdoms or religious achievements, but in the everlasting kingdom of God. Every earthly throne will one day pass away, but Agape will remain forever.
Perhaps the most personal question this song asks is not, ”Where is God?” but rather:
Will I allow His love to lead me beyond fear and into His light?
God’s invitation remains the same today as it has always been:
”Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine.”
— Isaiah 43:1
May His Agape lead us beyond every wall we have built, beyond every shadow we have feared, and into the everlasting light of Christ.
