Lyrics
Lead us to the Gat
We want to bee close to you Jesus
To share in your proclamation
Take our hands, lead us on your way
Lead us to heaven’s gate.
Don’t be shy
Open up your heart to the one who knows who you are.
Take his hand, he leads you to the light
He leads you to heaven’s gate.
Be careful who you listen to Turn your ear to Jesus
In Him we find the way of truth
The path. that leads us right
Come, Holy Spirit, fill our hearts with power
That makes our lives come alive.
Take our hearts, lead us on your way
Lead us to heaven’s gate.
Be careful who you listen to Turn your ear to Jesus
In Him we find the way of truth
The path. that leads us right
Glorify our hearts according to your will So we may serve
With your wisdom
Let us become servants of Jesus
to serve and lead our friends to you
Listen carefully to his word Keep it in you mind
follow it and you will meet Jesus our Messiah.
The Story Behind the Song
The Story Behind the Song
Every day we are surrounded by voices competing for our attention. Some promise success, others security, and many encourage us to follow our own path. Yet Jesus still speaks the same simple invitation:
”Follow Me.”
Lead Us to Heaven’s Gate was born from that invitation. It is a prayer for guidance, trust, and surrender. Rather than relying on our own wisdom, we are invited to place our lives in Christ’s hands and let Him lead us step by step.
The song also reminds us to be careful about the voices we choose to follow. God’s Word points us to truth, and the Holy Spirit gives us the strength to walk that path. Our destination is not simply Heaven itself, but a daily relationship with Jesus that transforms our hearts and teaches us to serve others.
My hope is that this song will encourage every listener to take Christ’s hand, walk in His light, and help others discover the same hope that has been freely given to us.
Biblical Reflection
Following the Shepherd
One of the greatest challenges in life is deciding whose voice we will follow. Every day we hear opinions, advice, and promises from the world around us. Some voices lead us toward fear, pride, or self-reliance. Jesus calls us to something different.
He says:
”My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
John 10:27
To follow Jesus is not simply to admire Him from a distance. It is to trust Him enough to place our lives in His hands, even when we cannot see the whole path ahead.
The song Lead Us to Heaven’s Gate reminds us that the Christian life is a journey. We are not walking alone. Christ Himself walks before us, the Holy Spirit strengthens us, and God’s Word lights our path.
The destination is not reached by our own wisdom or strength. We are led there by the One who said:
”I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”
John 14:6
May we choose each day to listen to His voice, trust His guidance, and become servants who lead others to Him.
A Prayer
Jesus, teach me to recognize Your voice above every other voice. Lead me in Your truth, strengthen me by Your Spirit, and help me walk faithfully until the day I stand in Your presence.
Amen.
